2. CellsStructure and function of cell organellesThis is a great interactive tutorial on the different parts of both animal and plant cells. It requires flash but it shows all organelles within the cells and when you click on them it gives you a description of what it looks like and the function. Highly recommended you visit this to review the structure and function of cells. Pink Monkey On Cell Structures This is pink monkeys guide to cells and their structures and organelles. It doesn't go into too much detail about the functions but does give a good overview of cells in general. It also goes into cell membranes which is an important section to know. Similar to the first interactive tutorial but not quite as flashy. Still has some good information and is easy to use. Also includes a small quiz.
Properties of cell membranesThis goes into quite a bit of detail on cell membranes. Many of the functions discussed branch off into other areas of the site which describe them in more detail. A decent description but may be a hard for some to understand. University Of Texas Cell Membrane Pages This tutorial starts off with a list of what the membranes are used for such as protection. At the bottom of the page you can go into a lot of details of cell membrain such as architecture. This page goes quite a bit farther then you will need but if your interested in learning more about cells this is a great place to do it.
Comparison of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cellsShort tutorial on difference between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells Short tutorial that teaches about the basic differences between the two types of cells. Great visuals that show the difference plus a quiz to test yourself after you are done. Only a few pages long but a great place to start learning the difference. Definition Of Prokaryotic And Eukaryotic Cells This is an extensive tutorial on the differences between the two types of cells. This page goes over all the common characteristics as well as the different organelles.
