Rational numbers are integers that can be written out easily as a fraction. Most numbers you will be dealing with are rational numbers. Rational number may go on forever in their decimal form such as 2/3 but as long as they can be written as a nice fraction for they are still rational numbers.
Irrational Numbers
Irrational numbers on the other hand cannot be made into a nice fraction and when they are in decimal form they do not end. Many people think that the number PIE = 3.14 . This is actually not the case PIE is a irrational number and the decimal number continues to go on forever without a stable repeating patterned. Another commonly known irrational number is the square root of 2.
