3.2 ConjunctionsNow if you understood implications you shouldn’t have any trouble with the rest of the logical operators. It might be worthwhile to review implications after you read the rest of the sections. The next operator we will be looking at is the conjunction or the “AND” operator. Traditionally the symbol for conjunctions is a teepee or upside down V “/\”. The conjunction operator is rather simple, what it asks is that both propositions need to be True in order for the statement to be true. So if we have the statement A /\ B then the only way that this statement will be true is if "A = True" and "B = True". Lets take a look at the truth table for a clearer picture.
As you can see the only time that the statement A /\ B is True is when both propositions are true. If either or both propositions are False then the statement is false. Please register to post a comment. |
